How to Clean Bottles

Are you fond of collecting vintage bottles? One of the things you’ll most likely want to know is the cleaning process. Bottles come in various shape, color and design. They can be very appealing especially if it has a unique shape. However, having a dirty bottle is not attractive at all. It will only divert the attention of the viewers. Instead of watching the exceptional design of the bottle, they will only look at the dirt content or spider webs found inside it. This can be very discouraging. Fortunately, this article will share to you the correct and easy procedures in cleaning dirty bottles. Bottle collectors will definitely want to achieve shiny clean bottle and place it inside house as part of interior décor or better yet sell it.

The things that you will need are rubber gloves, water, a bowl, an old bottle, soft bristle brush, gravel and clean cotton cloth.

Here are the easy ways in cleaning bottles:

  • Organize your cleaning materials. Put your gloves on and rinse the bottle with water. Remove any dirt present by means of shaking.
  • Look for gravel with petite size. You will only need few gravel for cleaning the inside portion. About one half cup of gravel will do.
  • Get your bowl and add water and at least 2 to 3 teaspoons of liquid soap. Mix the soapy solution thoroughly.
  • Put the gravel inside the bottle. Fill the bottle halfway with your soapy solution.
  • Quiver the dirty bottle allowing to clean the inside portion. Continue shaking the bottle until you achieve the desired cleanliness.
  • After proper shaking, pour out the gravels and your soapy solution. Check for any dirt particles present. Simply repeat the procedure if there are still missed dirt.
  • Wash the bottle properly with tap water.
  • Get another bowl and pour 1 cup of water. Add your liquid soap and mix properly. Use a soft bristle brush and scrub the outer portion of the bottle as well as the neck part of the bottle.
  • Wash the bottle with running water. You can increase the pressure of the faucet to further remove dirt inside the bottle.
  • Use a soft cotton cloth and wipe the bottle properly.
  • Allow the bottles to dry in a safe place where children can’t reach it.
  • After making sure that it has dried, you can start to put designs in it or display it for decoration.

You can use an antibacterial soap in cleaning dirty bottles if you plan to use it for drinking. Gravel cleaning is only ideal for glass bottles. Plastic bottles can leave scratches and marks with gravel. You can use old baby bottle brush in cleaning plastic bottles. Avoid using ammonia containing cleaning solutions as this can leave bad smell and can be a dangerous health risk once inhaled.
